A bit more than the typical paperback Western...

Okay...no one has reviewed this yet, the first in a trilogy (the trilogy itself part of a larger "family series" I've never read), so I thought I'd drop a few lines and maybe help a few curious readers.

It's basically the story of of a young Army officer sent West to battle Apaches while the Civil War is raging back East. Every other chapter or so is given to a renegade Apache whose quest for vengeance parallels our hero's and will of course eventually lead them to a showdown in the trilogy's climax.

I'm a sucker for anything with Apaches, so I'm a bit partial, but Apache Storm is better than most straight-to-paper Westerns crowding Wal-Mart shelves (hey, I actually finished reading it). Cormac McCarthy it ain't, but it does offer a straight-ahead action story, with our hero's battles against Apaches and Army brass played out sort of like a Bernard Cornwell Sharpe novel minus the style, character development, and flair for hyper realism. It's packed with a lot of repetitive Apache history, obviously taken mainly from Thrapp, Opler, and Ball, that can be quickly skimmed over, which means you can thumb past page after page without missing out on plot stuff. What really sets the book apart from the pack is the level of violence, a lot of it inflicted on innocents by one of the main characters (the Apache, of course--though he is thankfully never presented as merely a bloodthirsty savage--though to say such a cardboard character is seen in a favorable light would be stretching the point). I've picked up the other two books in the series and will read them--and in the third book, the character of the Army officer seems to have become a rogue Apache hunter straight out of a spaghetti Western. A lot of Western purists would probably be angry at the way the book presents the historical Cochise in events that are entirely fictional--but, hey--it's a paperback Western, so deal with it.

Just go in with the right mind-set and you shouldn't be disappointed. It ain't Ulzana's Raid, but it's better than most paperback Westerns out there.

After Dark.... a bit dusky

The start of this book started out really strong and then it melted into something you can guess. I liked the premise of the book, therefore the 3 star rating, but it really didn't hold up all the way through. Instead of focusing on the fight with the demon/spiritual entity the author fell back on the romance between the two main characters.

Reading the Big Conspiracy was like reading my a female side of my tribulations. Only that mine were as recent as 2014 and culminated in the non-renewal of my contract by the Civil Aviation Authority I was working for. My main crime being that of doing things by the book, sticking to standards and putting the good of the State first. Little did I know I was actually cultivating enmity, particularly being of the wrong skin color.
Any clean person working with a Civil Aviation Authority and at a senior level at that, will easily relate to what the author experienced and see possibly see their reflection ditto.
The deception, the power play, the sacrificial lambs, the corruption and deceit, to the extent of deceiving the royalty are things I went through from 2012 to 2014 in the Middle East. I was even arrested on 3rd April 2015 on trampled up charges held incommunicado until 5th April 2015, when I suffered High Blood Pressure and ended up hospitalized for a week and was discharged on 13th April 2015, for simply writing an open letter to His Royal Highness the Prime Minister. I had forgotten an important lesson,' Me and My brother are together against my cousin, but me, my brother and my cousin are together against the outsider'.
A book only the strong willed, truth warriors and standards driven aviation professionals will enjoy and learn from.

I'm going to give this one 3 1/2 stars. I LOVE Laurie Roma's IAD agency series, and I was excited to see Trinity get her own story in a spin off series. It had the usual great action suspense, and steamy love scenes that I have come the expect from Ms. Roma. What made me not give it more stars was two reasons. One, to me, Trinity seemed to act bratty (a nice way of putting it) a lot of the time. Strong heroines are my favorite to read about. But she threw the attitude a little to much--if people didn't do or say what she wanted, she would just get mad and leave. Second, I've read m�nage stories before, but I think this is the first where the H's are not best friends or brothers before. I think it kind of puts a strain on the relationship. I wish the story was longer so the relationship could build more naturally and not feel rushed. I still fell it is well written, and will definitely be reading more upcoming books from this series!

Trinity from IAD is at Sunset Point......YAY!!!!!

Looks like I got my wish....the locals from Sunset Point are getting a story and BONUS Katrina "Trinity" Cross from IAD agency is getting her HEA in this book.....*happy sigh*

We first meet Trinity in book 3 of the IAD series. She has been shot, stabbed, you name and it has happened. She is on leave resting and recovering from her injuries and trying to figure out what do to next. Then Tara calls and asks a favor, Julian (Tara's fiance) is having problems with the renovations being done or rather not being done at their Palace Hotel on Sunset Point. Julian and Tara can't leave to check it out so Trinity goes after much coaxing from Tara and said yes she would but told Tara that nobody had better be trying to kill her.
Of course that doesn't happen and Trinity meets Jackson Stone of the SPPD. This man is seriously hot, alpha to the core and just YUMMY from head to toe. Instant attraction and BAM FIREWORKS!!! She then meets Maxwell King (Julian's brother) and she can't help but feel the same FIREWORKS and chemistry she feels for Jackson. She is attracted to both this hot, sexy men.

Action, suspense, drama, hot sexy lovin, and humor. This series has different authors but this story just flowed effortlessly. From book one to this one it does not miss a beat. I think no I know I can honestly say that while I enjoy ALL aspects of these books I truly loved the humor provided. Seriously you have to laugh, life is too short for you not to (my personal opinion).
A truly wonderfully, awesome read and just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LAURIE ROMA!!!! YOU ROCK.....=D

if you are looking for a cute, enjoyable read of a menage, you will enjoy the entire series. Nothing heavy, each story has its own "bad guy" story line, and the menage guys are always there to save and protect the girl. Nothing outstanding but I read the entire series and kept it which for me says alot.

Each chapter includes questions from parents, with Rosemond's replies. He is dogmatic ("I don't believe there's any justification for letting a preschool child watch any television at all"), prone to psychobabble ("give yourself permission to be creatively selfish") and excessively cute (instead of using the word "no" he writes about "Vitamin N"). Nonetheless, the book succeeds in presenting fresh, reasonable strategies that should help parents to resolve family conflicts and raise well-adjusted children.

Another book Moms and Dads need!

My parents are devoted fans of John Rosemond's columns ~~ and every other week, I'll get the column from them in the mail. Rosemond offers practical advice to parents like my husband and me. Bewildered by all the parenting advice out there, there are just some days we get so overwhelmed on whether we're raising our sons right or not. This book is for you if you are in the same boat as we are.

This book just offers advice from Rosemond as he parents his children with his wife. This is practical advice and full of common sense. Though our boys are just turning three, this book will be a huge help for us over the years. We're gleaning ideas from this book now, especially on the advice of making our marriage our top priority. A happy marriage makes for a happy family.

Each chapter also comes with real-to-life questions from other parents and Rosemond answers each one of them. These are situations that you may or may not find yourself in but you can relate to them. The answers are not mean or cruel ~~ just practical. Rosemond also stresses teaching kids responsibility and working for things that they feel are important to them. He also stresses on the importance of making time for your marriage, family time and so on.

This is a practical guide that I heartily recommend for all parents ~~ no matter how old your children are. This is another book that I plan to give to my children and nieces and nephews when they start raising their own families.

My husband and I are both doctors, and every day we see unruly, disrespectful children who completely manipulate their parents. (Imagine bargaining with a two-year-old over whether she will receive her shots or not!) We also see a lot of frustrated, frazzled, and confused parents who wonder how, despite loving their children and doing everything for them, they ended up with such monsters! This book took everything we were thinking and summarized it into a useful, concise guide to child rearing. I strongly recommend it for anyone who actually wants well behaved, secure, happy children who don't rule the roost.
