Read wikipedia instead

To start with the conclusion: I would not recommend this book to anyone. This book promises to "tell you ALL about them" but instead gives you nothing you couldn't find with just 10 minutes of browsing the web.

What I was expecting was an in-depth and all-round explanation on QR-codes, for example details about required sizes (not just "about 100 pixels wide is okay"), error correction percentages, overviews of (smart)phone capabilities, etc etc.

Instead this book offers only two things. First, it starts with a short introduction, but: you're better off reading the Wikipedia page on QR codes (from which several things almost seem to be copy-pasted). Second, the book gives an "A-Z list of QR codes" that basically goes like this: "You can print a QR code on a flyer. You can also print it on clothing. And hey! You can also print it on...".

This is one of the times when I didn't get a sample of a book.
Eager to learn more about QR codes, I just bought the book.
Very little in the way of tips or techniques. Mostly comparisons to other means of coding data.

An Interesting Look Back in Time!

Out of Time was an enjoyable romp through time that took place in 2006 and jumped back to the 12th Century during the time of King Richard, the Lionheart. The author has created a story of a woman, Marion, one day while visiting an abbey is drawn to a beech tree and suddenly is pulled through the tree, a porthole, into another time in the past at this same abbey.

This was a cleverly created story connecting the two times and keeping each separate but yet together. Her characters were fascinating from the Abbess Hildegarde to Giles De Soutenay who becomes Marion's connection between their times. There is more to their connection than meets the eye.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable and easy read. I would highly recommend it.

A well-deserved HNS Indie Review Editor's Choice

I loved this story: it has clever dialogue, the history is brought to life and the timeslip element is exciting, intriguing and perhaps even more important - very believable. (Although maybe there are a couple of quibbles about plausibility....but these sort of quibbles could be applied to any timeslip-type novel and this is fiction - good fiction at that!)
My only regret is that the story wasn't longer - when something is written as well as this you really don't want the end to come too soon!

As Managing Editor of the Historical Novel Society Indie Reviews I was delighted that Out Of Time received the well deserved accolade of Editor's Choice and is therefore automatically longlisted for the HNS Indie Award 2016.

Refreshing

Refreshing and enjoyable story. Time travel, especially to the dark ages is very intriquing. I have read all the Outlander books and loved them but there was a lot of 'stuff ' that could have been left out. This is straight forward and entertaining. Although I would have liked to have read how the Abbess enjoyed her tea after 30 years!

Heartwarming, yet Heartwrenching

This Too Is Love hits so close to home in the subject it raises. The book hits on teen pregnancy, dysfunctional families, acting out, loss and finding yourself.

Trixie has lived a rough live, her family is dysfunctional to the max, her mother anything but a mother, her aunt and cousin just as dysfunctional, yet still better than the reality she's been living. Determined to start over and find the love she's been craving, she starts giving herself to anyone who wants a part of her, only to end up facing the consequences.

Ricky was a everything a you'd expect an unexpected teen dad would be, yet more. He had so much more to offer Trixie, cared about her for who she was, not what she gave him. He valued her, filled a void for her. He showed her what she could have.

I think the best part of this entire story is the role of Mrs Carter and Julia and David. They provided Trixie with all the love she ever was denied. Gave her warmth and love, caring and concern, self respect and everything a parent, biological or otherwise should provide their child.

This story had so many heartwarming moments and just as many heartbreaking moments. I could so easily connect to Julia and David and their struggle to conceive. I can also relate to their desire to foster a relationship with Trixie.

This book was outside my typical genre, but I am so glad that I ventured to read it. It impacted me on such a deep level, it is worth reading no matter what genre you prefer. You can't go wrong with this emotional read!

This book is amazing, raw

This book is amazing, raw, emotional and real. Trix has been raised, and I use that term loosely, by an alcoholic mother. They have been homeless, lived in motels and her mother has had numerous boyfriends and has prostituted herself out. Trixie has no idea what a normal family is. She finds love in the only way she knows how with boys that only use her.
She doesn't know who her father is and wants badly to know what she comes from. She finds out that her father is Mexican and fantasizes about the family she doesn't know. When she finds out she is pregnant she turns her life around with the guidance of an Art teacher who truly cares for her and wants her to know her value. It is heartbreakingly real, beautiful and hopeful. I won't tell you want else happens because I don't want to spoil it for you. It makes it more understandable why it is so hard for kids who come from such a background, not to know any other way than what they learned without help and hope. Anya is a wonderful writer.

This is an enjoyable young adult book. I won't call it a romance, my genre of choice, because it's more about growing pains than a romance.
Trixie has a hard life that just gets harder. though her actions are not desirable I think they show a good picture of a young lady who is just looking for one person to love, or even care, about her. The emotional rollercoaster and what this teenager experiences is very sad. but the story pulls you in so you can't stop reading.
The time line at the beginning is a bit confusing and left me scratching my head a few times hanging on. I also felt like the ending missed its mark, not that it was bad, just that it could have been more complete.
the story contains lots of teenage situations, pregnancy, sex, drinking, drugs, adoption etc. it would not be for everyone
